What are Envision Nights?
Envision Nights are community gatherings where we invite any resident of Ossipee to come and share their thoughts, hopes and concerns about the community we all live in. We facilitate the conversations and provide some structure but all ideas are captured and considered. We then distill down the key points and analyze them. We use this data to guide our projects and efforts, apply for grant funding and create presentations for other boards and commissions.
Center Ossipee Envision Night - January 8th 2018
More than 50 people came out on this cold January evening to discuss the present and future of the Village of Center Ossipee. Residents shared their thoughts on what they loved about living in Ossipee, what kinds of businesses and services they would like to have, what kinds of infrastructure projects they would like the town to take on and more.
After an hour of small-group discussion, all the notes we're put up on the wall and attendees could then 'vote' on ideas they thought we're particularly interesting or important by placing a sticker next to it. These notes and votes were tallied and became a key document for the OEDC. After further surveying of residents on the following town voting day we began analyzing the projects that Ossipee residents were most excited about and got to work on them.
Two years later we've managed to accomplish some great things for Center Ossipee: A new playground, sidewalks, a property tax incentive for new businesses, a new Economic Revitalization Zone and more. These were all projects that came as a direct result of the community input of this Envision Night.
